LIFT OUT OF ACTION: our lift — which offers disabled, level access to the Basement only — is temporarily out of action.

GALLERY CLOSURE: our Top Gallery is currently closed while we carry out essential maintenance work. Our Middle and Basement Galleries are open with histories and stories to share with you.

DATES FOR THE DIARY: our museum will be closing early at 4pm on Friday 8 November and closed on Thursday 21 November for a private event.

Travelling by car

Park and Ride

Daytime parking in central Oxford is limited.

If you're visiting us from outside the City, our Council encourages you to use one of the five Park & Ride services.

There’s one located at each of the main roads into the City and they run frequent bus services into the City Centre.

Car and Coach parks

The main car park and coach park for the City is on Oxpens Road — check the Oxford City Council website for details of all city-centre parking.

Coaches are able to drop off and pick up in Broad Street; we advise groups travelling in a minibus to use the Park & Ride.

For cars, there is pay-and-display parking close to the Museum in Broad Street, Mansfield Road, and Blackhall Road.

Travelling by public transport

Bus station

If you're coming to Oxford by bus, we're about 10 minutes' walk from the bus station.

Railway stations

There are two railway stations serving Oxford:

Oxford
We're about 15 minutes' walk from Oxford station, where there are also bus stops and a taxi rank.

Oxford Parkway
We're about an hour's walk from Oxford Parkway, so we do recommend using the Park and Ride bus service or a taxi (unless you feel like stretching your legs!).
