Chris Lintott is a Professor of Astrophysics in the Department of Physics, University of Oxford, where he is also a senior research fellow at New College.

His work focuses on getting the most out of large surveys of the sky, via a combination of machine learning and citizen science, making contributions to studies of galaxy formation, radio transients and interstellar objects. This work grew from his 15 year stint a principal investigator of the Zooniverse citizen science platform, which has involved more than two million people in contributing to science.

In addition to his work with Zooniverse, he is best known as the co-presenter for the BBC’s long-running Sky at Night series, and is currently serving as the 39th Professor of Astronomy at Gresham College in the City of London, giving free lectures which are broadcast on Youtube.

Lintott’s writing appears in the London Review of Books, and in the Times, and he is the author of four popular books, most recently Our Accidental Universe (2024, Transworld).

His museum expertise dates back to time spent as an astronomer at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, and he as served as a trustee for Royal Museums Greenwich and on the Ashmolean Board of Visitors.

His spare time is spent playing real tennis, and with his lurcher Max, with whom he presents the Dog Stars podcast.
