Professor Chirikure
Professor Chirikure, FBA
Professor Chirikure FBA is Edward Hall Professor of Archaeological Science and Director of the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art in the School of Archaeology and Fellow of Linacre College.
His research work is pursued through excavations, museum-based projects, laboratory investigations & experimental work, bringing together natural and social sciences with humanities.
Chirikure is advisor to private and public museums including the Museum of West African Art and Archaeology. He chairs the STEM Knowledge Network established by the UN Under Secretary General and Special Advisor on Africa.
As well as other prestigious awards, he was made a Fellow of the British Academy in 2024 and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2022.
